Carolyn Jean Tippets, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and teacher passed away peacefully in her sleep May 11, 2024 in South Jordan UT.
Her loving and eternal companion Gary M. Tippets preceded “Jeanie” in death last Spring after 71 years in marriage. Their love is eternal and solemnized through holy priesthood ordinances.
Carolyn was born on July 24, 1933 to Lester and Edith Taber in Hamilton, Montana.
She is survived by sons Rick, Jerry, Steve, Kelly and Chris Tippets and daughter Virginia Lovin, her sister Shirley Porter, as well as 19 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren.
Sister Tippets was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She taught her children to love the Lord and shared with them her love of sacred music and music of all genres.
Jeanie served in many church callings in her lifetime and considered being a Primary and Ward Chorister as her fondest. Oft times she was called by visiting Church leaders to share her angelic voice with congregations by singing an impromptu solo.
Mrs. Tippets was a celebrated educator teaching elementary music to generations of students at Riverside Elementary School in Grants Pass, Oregon for nearly 30 years. She earned her Bachelors Degree from Southern Oregon College in Ashland, Oregon and Masters Degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
Those that met Jean while waiting in line at the grocery store were likely to become her friends. Her kindness and sincere love of children and people in general was infectious and gave her strength to overcome numerous lifetime physical challenges that seemed nearly impossible for others to deal with.
Carolyn Jean Tippets leaves a legacy of faith, music and humanity for her family and countless individuals that knew her.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday May 18, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Latter-day Saint Church located at 12242 S 2700W, Riverton, Utah. A short viewing will be held at 10:00 am, prior to the service.
