Our incredible daughter, mom, wife, "bonus" mom, "Glammy," aunt, and friend, Yvette Marie Gardner-Cox, age 53, passed away on November 27, 2024, after a brief but brave battle with cancer. She will be profoundly missed.

Yvette's impact on the lives of so many around her is immense. She was fiercely dedicated to helping those around her shine by harnessing their strengths professionally and personally. Her compassion, quick wit, and love were evident everywhere she went. For so many, memories of Yvette are filled with laughter, vulnerability, joy, and empowerment. It was her life's work to give more than she took, and she did so tenfold.

We are grateful for the love and support of so many in Yvette's life, including her wonderful work families at Discover, Western Governor's University, and Mountain America Credit Union. Her work filled her cup and gave her an immense sense of pride every day. We know that she changed the lives of so many around her. They changed hers as well.

Thank you to the wonderful team at Intermountain Healthcare for taking such good care of Yvette in her final weeks. We feel incredibly fortunate to have shared her light and love with you all.

Yvette leaves behind a legacy of love and a family that loved her deeply and will continue to do so indefinitely. Her memory, laugh, smile, and dedication to serving others live on in each of them.

Yvette is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Madeline (Zachary Farr) Gardner and Harrison Gardner; "bonus" children, Austin Cox and McKenna (Aaron) Medina; grandson, Aiden Medina; parents, John and Nicki Fairbanks; siblings, Heidi Fairbanks Reilly, Chris (Julie) Fairbanks, and John (Stephanie) Fairbanks; and many others who cherished her deeply.

A memorial open house will be held on December 3, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Mountain America Tanner Building, 7167 Center Park Drive, West Jordan, UT 84084. A funeral service will occur on December 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Larkin Mortuary, 3688 W 12600 S, Riverton, UT 84065. All are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Huntsman Cancer Institute in her honor.

We are heartbroken to have to say goodbye to Yvette so soon, but we take comfort in knowing she is finally at peace. We love you, and we miss you.

Yvette and I grew up together, we lived in the same neighborhood and went to same schools in our much younger years. As we get older we move on with our lives and lose touch. Yvette always was beautiful. I will send prayers to her and her family.

Yvette was a great source of strength in the workplace. She was the best at helping us develop ourselves as individuals regardless if it was about the 'work.' I am thankful to have come under her care while at WGU. You don't forget people like Yvette. I am grateful for her.

Yvette was such a bright light to her colleagues and friends. I was fortunate enough to learn from her at work and feel her contagious enthusiasm for life and professional development. She will be missed greatly by many, I'm sure. I just feel so lucky to have been able to know her – even just at work. Thank you for all you've done for me, Yvette!

Yvette's dedication to helping people shine was evident in every interaction with her. She had a way of bringing people up and making them want to do the same for others, causing her positivity to ripple out in waves and impact far more people than she ever realized.

May her legacy live on in others as we continue to pass along her love and support.
